Contact support
Email us at support@moatfinance.ai.
Please include a brief description of the issue, the platform you are using—self-hosted server, ChatGPT, Claude, or another AI assistant—and any relevant error message. For self-hosted instances, include your Moat version and relevant docker compose logs output with any secrets removed.
For your security, do not send bank passwords, full account numbers, Social Security numbers, access tokens, recovery codes, or other sensitive credentials by email.
Account and sign-in help
Contact support if you are having trouble:
- Creating or signing in to your Moat Finance account
- Completing two-factor authentication
- Accessing your account on a new device
- Managing household access
- Exporting or deleting your data
Bank and financial account connections
Moat Finance uses read-only financial connections to import supported account and transaction information. Contact us if:
- An account will not connect
- Transactions or balances are not updating
- An account appears more than once
- A financial institution requires reconnection
- Imported transactions are missing or incorrect
Moat Finance does not store your bank login credentials. Connected financial institutions may occasionally require you to authenticate again.
ChatGPT and AI assistant connections
Contact us if you need help:
- Connecting Moat Finance to ChatGPT, Claude, OpenClaw, or another supported AI assistant
- Completing the authorization process
- Understanding which financial information an AI assistant can access
- Changing the permissions granted to an AI assistant
- Revoking an existing AI connection
- Troubleshooting an MCP or plugin connection
You remain in control of your connections. Access can be reviewed or revoked from your Moat Finance account.
Insurance, investment, and financial data
Moat Finance can organize information including accounts, transactions, investments, liabilities, insurance policies, budgets, goals, and forecasts.
If information appears inaccurate, first verify the original record or connected provider. You can then update manually managed information in Moat Finance or contact support for help with an imported-data issue.
Moat Finance provides tools for organizing and understanding financial information. It does not provide individualized legal, tax, investment, or insurance advice.
Self-hosting and hosting questions
Moat Finance is free, self-hosted software. There are no paid plans, subscriptions, or charges. Most people run it themselves with Docker or on Vercel + Neon.
- Setup steps, environment variables, reverse proxies, and backups are covered in the self-hosting guide
- Live bank sync on a self-hosted instance uses your own Plaid keys; Plaid bills you directly for that usage
- Bugs and feature ideas are best filed as GitHub issues
- If you would rather not host it yourself, or you are stuck getting it set up, email hello@moatfinance.ai
If you run your own instance, you are its operator. Moat Finance cannot see, recover, or delete data on a self-hosted server, including a lost ENCRYPTION_KEY.
Security concerns
If you believe your Moat Finance account or AI connection may have been accessed without authorization:
- Revoke any affected AI or MCP connections.
- Change your Moat Finance password.
- Review your two-factor authentication settings.
- Contact support@moatfinance.ai with the subject line Security concern.
Do not include passwords, tokens, bank credentials, or complete financial account numbers in your message.
